Parents of students in Special Education and Chandler Unified School District have cooperated with us for planning and inservice. We hope this sharing of information will serve as a valuable beginning communication link to our families. We hope Hamilton parents in Special Education will find: • Parent involvement is important to our teams! • Students and their parents have a number of resources for assistance via parents, liaisons, teachers, and administrators! • Parental input into district/school/student planning for special education services is always welcome! You will receive an unbelievable amount of information during your child's school years. Some will be of great importance throughout school and could even be of value in adult life. Below is a list of things that you should keep so everything is readily accessible. Some parents have found that a three-ring binder is very helpful for keeping things organized. • All Individual Education Programs (IEPs) and Written Notices
• All Permission for Placement and Permission to Evaluate forms
• Quarterly progress reports/resport cards
• Psycho-educational Evaluation Reports We are proud of our positive involvement and accomplishments and we would like to invite you to join us for our semi-annual meetings and parent inservices. For more information about the meetings or to talk to parent liaisons at your school, call the office of the Director of Pupil Personnel at (480) 812-7010. With your support we can continue to be a resource to parents, teachers, and the District. We hope that this information is useful to you. If you would like to talk to a case manager for Special Education at Hamilton High School, call (480) 883-5000. Transition InformationTransition Services are a coordinated set of activities which encompasses services, supports, and programs designed to promote successful transition towards the student’s desired post-graduation goals. This may include attending college, securing employment, vocational training, adult services, independent living and community involvement. Students with disabilities are more likely to transition successfully if they are informed about the resources available and have access to the information provided by Transition Services. Contact Sheila Dufraine (480) 883-5084 for questions, comments or concerns. What are We about? To provide educational services and opportunities that:
• Deal with the whole child and result in programs that promote students' successful experience and full life-preparedness.
• Promote student growth and learning, including areas of the general curriculum and State Standards.
• Support students in moving toward understanding of self and others, with appreciation for their own and all people's unique skills, talents and diversity. These can be accomplished through appropriate and meaningful individual student plans, placement in environments conductive to growth, and with the assistance of well-trained, compassionate instructors, who articulate with all our partners and have opportunities for professional growth and mutual support. Our staff serve as advocates to students, families and other staff. Networks, partnerships and flexibility ensure the coordination of services necessary to meet the challenges facing student with special needs. Central to this is the involvement, participation and partnership with parents/guardians of students to further enhance students' school experience.
